Welcoming in 2011

Jerry eating in Verbier, Swiss AlpsNadine hiking in Verbier Swiss AlpsWe started 2011 with a magnificent hike through Verbier in the Swiss Alps. We got there by the fantastic Swiss public transportation system with the second to last segment on the St Bernard Express and the final segment on a Gondola: at every stage, we were surrounded by beauty!  Shortly after I was honored to learn I was chosen as one of the 100 Top Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior.  Really nice personal and professional start to a new year.  Wishing you the best in this year too!

Lucky you to be in the snow and mountains, what a beautiful site. I’m here in Nantucket, but headed west to ski soon. Have some Swiss Chocolate for me. Happy new year and happy MLK weekend. Robert

Joyous New Year to you! Just got back from Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro. What an eyeopener that was to how destructive mankind can be when incivility and hatred rule. It’s cold here on the Cape but it is sunny.

Congratulations, Nadine, and happy 2011. It’s almost an oxymoron – Trust in Business. But if anyone can promote it, you can! I’d love to see you again, talk about how to save the world piece by piece. Maybe someday you’ll come home to Emerald City.
    Hugs, Dr. Wendy

Congratulations – truly an honor to be so recognized in your field. We’ve finally gotten some snow here in Waterville Valley and the skiing today was great. Continue to enjoy your beautiful surroundings in the Alps – hello to Jerry and happy New Year to you both. From your neighbor,
    Terry

    Nadine,

Hearty Congratulations on your prestigious award: you certainly deserve it for the leadership you’ve displayed in CSR and beyond–FELICITATIONS!!!

Here’s my recent news: My NGO that supports women in Afghanistan was selected by “Dining for Women (diningforwomen.org) as their featured women/s human rights and empowerment organization for the month of November. Chapters of women all over the country watched our video over dinner and then contributed the money they would have spent on going out to dinner to Rubia. Please watch the video and tell me what you think: rubiahandwork.org and then just click on the go button in the middle of the brightly colored balls of yarn. (I’ve been told by film-maker friends that I’m wearing the wrong color green, but the important thing is the message of women’s empowerment in Afghanistan comes through–j’en espere. Our work is consistent with your hypothesis that THE WORLD IS AT A TIPPING POINT IN EMPOWERING WOMEN AND GIRLS. I figure, if the women in Afghanistan can pull each other out of power, so can women all around the world!!!

Give Jerry a big hug for me–Eleanor and I meet regularly in Manchester, and she updates me on your latest accolades. I am enjoying my new role Project Humanist on a NH Humanities Council program for women refugees from the Great Lakes–it is called “Whole Cloth.”
