Our world has endured so many tragedies recently. So, we must do whatever we can to amplify the light of people, organizations and movements ‘making good trouble’ for our world to be more peaceful and just. And, we must keep hope alive by our own actions.

At the same time, we must nourish ourselves to remain committed to the long relay race for justice. During a year of many losses and deep sorrow, we had much joy that renewed our spirits.

We celebrated Jerry’s 90th birthday and we welcomed our first three great-grandsons – Barry, Dempsey and Milo – into the world.

A Forbes Councils member, I continue to regularly publish. My most recent article is ‘Always Be Kind’; see all my articles there. I won Ethical Business Thought Leader of Year award that includes a link to an article my alma mater Harvard wrote about me in 2008: “Nadine has worked as a passionate advocate for more than three decades on behalf of a host of vital social causes – from economic development to female empowerment to HIV/AIDS prevention – affecting millions.”

I speak regularly at conferences and events, like for Giving Women led by Atalanti Moquette dedicated to supporting women and girls in the most underserved communities who brought together a group of women to discuss leadership; educational institutions, like for University of St Louis Business School’s MBA courseSpirituality, Leadership, Ethics and Core Values‘ led by Nat Irvin and Westina Matthews; and on podcasts, like ‘Reigniting the extraordinary power of human connection in a deeply disconnected world’ for Kathleen Banzon’s PEACECORE.

Jerry and I are inspired by young activists who creatively do cross-sectional, intergenerational social justice organizing, like Stanley Asango from Kenya, now at Notre Dame who we met via MCW (né Miracle Corners of the World);  Nikishka Iyengar founder and chief ecosystem officer at The Guild and Groundcover, now a democracy fellow at HKS Ash Center; and so many others! We remain active with Global Citizens Circle that Jerry’s family founded in 1974 to have bold conversations to lead to sustainable change, generate action through dialogue and support peace initiatives from the grassroots up.

Perhaps you’d like to donate to GCC in honor of Jerry’s 90th.

Whether you do or not, please share in the comments section about where you are in your life – triumphs or tribulations – and what’s important for you. Jerry and I would like to be there for you in your personal and professional endeavors. XO, – Nadine

Thank you for your tireless work, Nadine! You and Jerry are stellar examples of what alliance and coalition looks like. Within our loving ‘community,’ rife with unique perspectives and visions, we have the potential to illuminate the world with “love, truth, justice, peace, beauty and joy,” – and to become beacons for those who seek evolution, a way out of the darkness. We facilitate transformation with love and truth: For we cannot change what we do not acknowledge. Thank you for being YOU!

    “always lead with kindness”
This is the legacy that our beautiful angel Tianna, our first-born daughter left us when she passed away at the end of June this year. Daily I navigate the waves of profound loss and grief while remaining full of hope for a better world that is just and equitable. However, it is not enough to remain full of hope, we need to act and each one of us has the power to act. Daily small acts of kindness are important to lead others to do the same. And then there are larger acts which can have greater impact to people who we may not know but who are less privileged than we are. At Giving Women we believe that each and everyone of us can be an action philanthropist and as we listen to the needs of others, we work together to facilitate solutions. TIanna stands beside me as we come together for a kinder and more just world. We must never give up.

What a lovely post. “The Work,” continues on many fronts and by many people. Hopefully, the voices from the heart speaking unwavering truth and justice are exponentially amplified in this time.

    Love you guys.
